About Me

I'm Elena.  I was born and raised in Illinois, I am married and I am a fur mama to my rescue pug Frank and a rescue cat named Scout.  This blog was originally started to document our journey to get pregnant and raise a family, however, the "getting pregnant" part took us over 5 years and this blog evolved very quickly into an outlet for me to blog about our experience with infertility.

We spent 2 years trying to conceive naturally and then 3 additional years being treated by multiple (4 to be exact) doctors trying to find the best solution for us to start our family.  We eventually had to give up on my eggs after several rounds of IVF, both fresh and frozen.  Eventually we were given the greatest gift from a total stranger, the gift of life.  We were approached via social media by a person who had been following along on our journey for quite some time.  She offered her eggs to us and we are so thankful that we took her up on her offer.  We traveled to Georgia in March 2016 and she officially became our egg donor.  One June 16th, 2016 we transferred embryo number 10, our first embryo created with a donor egg, and it turned out to be successful.  We welcomed baby girl Georgia June on February 22, 2017.

Although it did not happen the way that we ever imagined it to, we are so fortunate to be able to create a family in the non-traditional way.  This blog has become not only about infertility, but also about educating others about different ways that families are created.

If you are struggling to conceive, you have come to the right place!  We have been through the ringer and have had many procedures in attempts to get pregnant.  You can read more about my TTC timeline here.  Please feel free to contact me any time, I am always happy to answer questions.

  1. All of your photos are beautiful and I LOVE pugs!!!

  2. I just HAD to reach out to you and let you know that we have almost exact same stories. Hubby and I got married 1 week after y'all (Oct 1st 2011) and have been TTC since then. Had all the same tests done as y'all. We are starting IUI this week (unless it get cancelled - let's hope not!) and looking forward to the day when we have a BFP!!! Good luck with IVF next month!

  3. Nice to "meet" you Elena. You, your husband and your pup are adorable. Excited to follow along with your story.

  4. Your newest follower here! I found you through Elise's blog. :)

  5. I live in Illinois as well! Good luck with your new doctor! We went thru Chicago IVF and we loved them!

  6. We spoke about a year ago through email. Your blog inspired me to start blogging too. I am so happy that your family is finally going to be complete. We have still been trying, going on 3 years now. We met Dr. Richardo Loret De Mola last month and we are going to try donor eggs next. https://completingourfamily16.blogspot.com/
