Be Thankful, Be Present...

I'm still on a bit of a blogging hiatus, but I thought I'd give another update about what all has been going on lately.  For the time being, I am trying to really focus on me, my husband, and just life in general.  I'm tying to "be here now" and "be present" in each moment that I am given.  And I'm often reminding myself of the blessings that we do have.  I think it's a great way to help relieve the sting of another failed cycle.  We have SO MUCH going on in our lives and SO MUCH to be thankful for, that, although a failed cycle was completely devastating, it is not the end of the world for us, and it certainly is not the end of the fight for us either.  I'm trying to put my phone down more often, especially when Joe and I are together and really just enjoy the simple moments with him while we enjoy this break.

So after last week's post about our new RE, Dr. Ricardo Loret de Mola, I found out that he is in fact, covered by my insurance!!  I'm so excited to get the opportunity to meet and possibly be treated by the #1 RE in Illinois.  Although I never wanted to have to get a second opinion in the first place, we feel as though it is necessary, and we are both happy that we are able to see this specific doctor.  SIU School of Medicine actually reached out to me last week when they came across my blog post about Dr. L.  They offered to share my post on their Facebook and Twitter pages which I thought was so cool!  A perk to blogging I suppose! So our appointment with Dr. L is on January 20th.  It's a little bit later than I wanted, but I will take it.  His case load is smaller than some of the larger fertility clinics, which I really like, and is similar to what our current clinic is like.  Small case loads mean more attention to the patient.  We will have our initial consultation with Lisa Greenacre, she is the nurse practitioner for the clinic and came highly recommended by a friend of mine who is now pregnant with twins via IVF done by Dr. L!

For now I am patiently waiting the appointment, but not wishing my life away that January was here right now.  I am so far, enjoying the break we are on and I only expect it will get better over the next couple weeks, and easier to put treatment on the back burner.  We've been really busy with the house and I've been pretty distracted by everything that we've had going on with that and the holidays. Thanksgiving went by in the blink of an eye, but it was a fun day.  We made 3 separate stops, we started about 11am and didn't get home until around 6pm so it was a full day of festivities.  We ended the night with our annual tradition of watching Christmas Vacation and drinking mimosas to officially kick off the Christmas season.

I did some Black Friday shopping, but not until later in the day.  The deals that I got were totally amazeballs and I ended up putting a good dent in my Christmas shopping.  I spent most of the weekend with my family and friends eating entirely too much food and running around until I was completely exhausted.  Saturday we did a triple date night with Jodie and Jon, and Jessica and Mike. Lots of laughs and lots of good Italian food was had.  It's been nice to genuinely enjoy the moments that I find myself in.  Sunday Joe and I got our cabinets, it was quite the adventure, but it was an exciting step, that's for sure!  I couldn't believe how many boxes there were, it sure doesn't seem like our kitchen is big enough for the 20' trailer and truck load that we had!  We also got the fireplace installed and Joe started a little fire in it once it was all finished.

boxes and boxes of cabinets!  hopefully we can reveal them soon!

my little touch of Christmas at the house!

all that's missing is the porch!

I'm not sure how long my social media sabbatical will last, but it sure does feel nice not to have that inevitable pressure I put on myself to make sure I get at least 3 posts a week published, and make sure that I'm planning far enough a head in the week for my Friday posts.  I love this blog and what it has brought my way, but along with this infertility break, these next 8 weeks I really want to just focus on what's best for me, and keeping my social media up to date is definitely not high on my list of priorities.  I hope that you can all understand and respect that, and know that I will definitely be back into the swing of things soon.

  17. Good luck with your new RE. It can be so hard to stay in the here and now, that has been a goal of mine as well. It can be so easy to let this fertility journey become all encompassing, nut we cant let the life that we are currently living just pass by!
